Mr. Hameed Haroon born in Karachi on October 27th 1952 holds a Master’s degree in Regional Studies (East Asia) from Harvard University and two Master’s degree in Political Economy and Development Economics, from the Boston University. He also holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Economics from the London School of Economics. From 1998 to date, he has served as Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Herald Publications (Pvt.) Ltd. & Pakistan Herald Ltd., the publishers and printers of the Dawn Group of Newspapers.

Prior to this, he was Deputy Chief Executive. Mr. Hameed Haroon has thrice been President of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society, the apex body of all the major Newspapers and Magazines in Pakistan. A leading culture and human rights activist of Pakistan. He is also involved in the promotion of culture, music and performing arts, films and theater, visual arts, community services, conservation and heritage archaeology, education and health. He currently serves on various communities related to these projects. Presently he is Chairman Executive Committee for the development of Mohenjodaro Member of the National Cultural Heritage Committee and the Managing Trustee of the Mohatta Palace Museum. Hameed Haroon has made several appearances in the electronic media as presenter for UK’s Channel 4 TV in London and as a political commentator on New Delhi TV in India. He has also of directed plays for both theater and television in Pakistan. He has also been associated with the publishing of several books. He was the co-curator of the Holy Sinner- a mojor retrospective of the non-calligraphic works of Sadequain, Pakistan’s well-known prolific artist. He was also the moving spirit for the 600 page catalogue of this colossal exhibition, the lingest running art exhibition in Pakistan’s history. In 2004, he curated another spectacular exhibition entitled “JeWel in the Crown – Karachi under the Raj 1843 -1947. This exhibition brought together over 200 photographs, portraits and artefacts providing rare insights into Karachi from another era. Over 250,000 spectators viewed the magnificent exhibition and due to popular demand, this exhibition remained open toll March 2006.

He was awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s highest civil award in 2004 and other awards both national and international for this contribution to arts and culture. In 2006, the Italian Ambassador Mr. Roberto Mazzaotta conferred the Italian Order of Merit award on one of the “most outstanding public personalities in Pakistan on behalf of the President of Italy. He is associated with the publishing and reprinting of seven books on art. Besides his varied interests, Hameed is fluent in Mandarin, Chinese and has one of the largest private collections of paintings and books.


Kazi Asad Abid son of Kazi Abdul Majeed Abid, born on 20th  September, 1952 at Hyderabad, Sindh. He is fluent  in English, Urdu & Sindhi. After initial studies in Pakistan, pursued advanced studies in Business Administration in USA. Completed practical courses in modern journalism before joining the Ibrat Group of Publications in 1976. Finally in the year 1981, took over the entire management as well as editorial responsibilities of the most popular, influential and widely acclaimed regional daily newspaper of Pakistan viz. THE DAILY IBRAT, being published in the Sindhi language since 1958 under the banner of The Ibrat Group of Publications, headquartered in Hyderabad, Sindh. The group also publishes several other publications of different periodicities. Namely, the Fortnightly Ibrat Magazine, Daily Sindhu, Weekly Sindhu Digest, Monthly Hazar Dastan and Monthly Bakhtawar Magazine are all published by the Ibrat Group of Publications and an English newspaper, The Daily Regional Times is also affiliated with the Ibrat Group of Publications. THE DAILY IBRAT and their periodicals have the distinction of having built-up readership beyond the borders of Sindh and Pakistan. The publications are circulated in The Middle East, India, Hong Kong and various Western countries where Sindhi speaking expatriates reside. The Daily Ibrat is also available on the internet at: www.dailyibrat.com. Additionally, a complete high-tech printing facility is also being managed by the name of M/s Popular Printers at Hyderabad, which has several printing machines and latest computer networks.

Mr. Mehtab Khan was born on May 2, 1957 in Murree. He is F.A. from Gordon College Rawalpindi in 1972, Diploma in Civil Engineering from Govt. College of Technology Rawalpindi in 1975. Went to Germany in 1977, Studied in Inlingua College Frankfurt (Germany), worked in Newspaper Frankfurter Rundshau and established business in Germany. He started Daily Ausaf London in May 2002 and Daily Ausaf Islamabad in August 2002. Worked as Finance Secretary CPNE in 2003-04 and 2004-05 and Convener of Federal Capital Committee of APNS for the year 2005,06,07,08,09 and 10. He  remained member of APNS Executive Committee for the year 2007-08 till date. He was elected Senior Vice President for the term 2011-12 and 2012-13.

Sarmad Ali is Managing Director at the Jang Media Group, Pakistan’s largest media conglomerate having presence in Print, Broadcast and the Digital space.  He is responsible for the group’s revenue function.

Sarmad Ali has over twenty-five years of experience in marketing, advertising and media management.  He has been associated with the Jang Group since 1994 when he joined the group as Executive Director of the English daily “The News”.  Under his stewardship, The News became one of Pakistan’s two premier English dailies.  In 1997 he took over as the Group’s Executive Director, Marketing & Sales and in 2006 was promoted as Managing Director.

Prior to joining the Jang Group, Sarmad has been associated with some of the country’s leading advertising agencies including IAL/Saatchi, where he worked as Director Client Service from 1987 to 1993.

He is presently President of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) and has previously served as its Secretary General and Joint Secretary.  He is also President of the International Advertising Association’s Pakistan Chapter and serves on IAA’s Global Board of Directors.  Sarmad also serves on the council of the World Branding Forum.  He is Board member and Treasurer of the Management Association of Pakistan. He is the Chairman of the Ad-Asia 2019 organizing committee.

Described as of one of Pakistan’s marketing thought leaders, Sarmad has been thrice the President of the Marketing Association of Pakistan.  In 1999, he was awarded the coveted Marketing Excellence Award for his contribution in the field of marketing,  Ranked amongst Pakistan’s top 100 Business Leaders, Sarmad received the Asian Brand Leadership Award from the Asian Brand Congress in 2007 and the 50 Most Talented CMOs Award at the World Marketing Summit in 2013.

In 2013, the President of Pakistan conferred upon Sarmad the Sitara-I-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s third highest Civil Award.

He serves on the Governing Board of the Intellectual Property Organization, Cabinet Division, Government of Pakistan and has also served in the past, as member of the Prime Minister’s Task Force on Privatization and Investment in 2003 and as member of the Sindh I. T. Board from 2000–2003.

Sarmad has also been on the Jury of the Global AME Awards (Advertising & Marketing Effectiveness) as well as the M&M Global Media Marketing & Advertising Awards and INMA (International News Media Association) awards.

Sarmad is also on the Board of Directors of the Pakistan Parkinson’s Society and Board of Governors of the Friends of the Burns Centre.

He holds a Master degree from Villanova University, Pa, USA.

Bilal Mehmood is Director Marketing Nawa-i-Waqt group which is one of the largest media groups of Pakistan. Mr. Bilal is responsible of the revenue function of entire group. He has a Master degree in Business and been serving the Group for last 14 years.

Bilal was born in Hassan Abdal District Attock. He started off his career from Interflow Communications Pvt. Ltd in 2003 there he developed his interest in the field of advertising and communication. He joined Nawa-i-Waqt Media Group as a business executive in 2004. His first assignment was Nida-i-Millat weekly and Phool monthly magazine later was given charge of Family Magazine. Soon after he was as promoted as Manger Marketing & Promotion Daily Nawa-i-Waqt. In 2008 he under took the charge of Daily THE NATION as Business Manger. Mr. Bilal due to his remarkable performance in 2009 took over the charge of Daily Nawa-i-Waqt and The Nation as General Manager Marketing; in 2014 he was assigned WAQAT News and took over the whole Nawa-i-Waqt Media Group as General Manger Marketing. Mr. Bilal is presently a marketing pro because of his hard core experience in the felid of media marketing as he started from the scratch.

In 2010 he for the first time represented his Group at APNS. He has been a part of Executive, Punjab, Advertising, Federal, Training and development committees of APNS. He is presently Chairman advertising committee. Mr. Bilal is not only involved in the local business activities of the group but also international. He visited over 20 countries for marketing consultancy to some major cooperate clients. He has organized international expos at the panel of Nawa-i-Waqt group. He has been awarded with many honoraries. He is also a Motivational speaker.

Mr. Waseem Ahmed son of Allah Ditta was born in Bhawalpur in 1960 and is a graduate. He is Editor-in-Chief Daily AWAM Quetta/Hub and Daily Public, Quetta. He started his career in journalism from regional newspaper Daily Nara-e-Haq, Quetta in 1987 as a Sub-Editor, and started Daily AWAM, Quetta in 1989 and Daily Public in 1999. He was elected executive member of APNS for the terms starting 2000-2001 onwards. He was elected Finance Secretary for the year 2013-14 and 2014-15. Presently, he is Chairman, Provincial Committee Balochistan.
